Permission Is Not Participation
God gave us the freedom to choose. He never promised to co-sign the choice.
By Deborah Ocasio
"If God didn't want it to happen, He would have stopped it." You have heard that sentence. You may have said it. Nothing fell from the sky, nobody got struck down, and the money cleared. So the conclusion writes itself: God must be fine with it. He is not.
Free will was God's idea. In the garden He planted a tree, told Adam plainly what would happen, and then left the tree there. Because love that cannot say no is not love. It is programming.
“God's silence is not His signature. His patience is not His approval.”
"These things hast thou done, and I kept silence; thou thoughtest that I was altogether such an one as thyself" (Psalm 50:21). The silence was real. The conclusion drawn from it was wrong.
The space between your sin and its reckoning is not God shrugging. It is God waiting. He handed you the keys. He did not get in the car.
